Message history scan

Last updated on Oct 15, 2026

Live monitoring only catches new messages. To check your words in advance and not lose people who wrote recently, Telegrin has three tools for working with the past.

Checking your words against history - before launch

When you create a campaign with Telegram chats and your own keywords, the Limits and launch step shows the Your words against the chosen chats block. Telegrin runs your words over the latest messages in those chats and shows, for example: "Matched 12 of the last 800 messages (1.5%)" - and roughly how many matches a day that means.

  • The check is free: messages are only counted, the AI does not read them, no credits are charged.
  • The estimate comes from a sample of recent messages, not the whole history.
  • The block appears only when creating a campaign, only for Telegram chats, and only when there is history in the chosen chats.

This answers the main question of a new campaign: are the words too broad (hundreds of matches - noise and spend) or too narrow (zero matches - silence)? Go back to the What to look for step and adjust the words until the number looks reasonable.

⚠️ Important: with Keywords only, a credit is charged only for matched messages - use this number as the guide. With Every message, the AI reads (and bills) every message that passes the filters, so spend will run above the match count.

"Scan the last 24 hours"

A checkbox on the Limits and launch step, off by default.

  • On - the first check looks back one day in every channel of the campaign and finds people you might have missed.
  • Off - we only watch new activity from now on, with no past scan and no extra credits.

What was found for the past day appears in the Feed gradually, as it is checked.

Chat history scan for 1-30 days

The chat history of a Telegram campaign can be scanned deeper - up to 30 days back. There is no button for this on the screens: the scan is started through Claude with Telegrin connected, or through the public API (see "MCP and the public API"). Ask Claude, for example: "Scan the history of my campaign's chats for the last 14 days".

  1. First - a free estimate: how many messages the scan will cover and roughly how many credits it will cost.
  2. Then the start. You can watch the progress and stop it at any moment - once stopped, no more credits are spent.

A scan needs the campaign's active Telegram account and credits on the balance. Leads it finds appear in the Feed as the scan goes.

ℹ️ Note: whatever a chat history scan finds comes to the feed as a suggestion and is never sent on its own, even if the campaign is on autopilot. Whether to reply to old messages is your call.

What it costs

The same rules as in live mode:

  • Telegram, Threads, Bluesky and Hacker News - 1 credit per message or post the AI read. Whatever is dropped before the AI (a stop word, no keyword, text too short) is free.
  • LinkedIn, Reddit, X and Jobs - 1 credit per delivered post, even if a filter drops it before the AI.

A chat history scan shows up as its own line in your spending: Settings → Billing → Credit spend analytics → What for → Scanning chat history.

💡 Tip: if credits from your plan are about to expire, a chat history scan is the fastest way to turn them into leads. How credits expire is covered in "Balance, top-ups and credit expiry".
